This is my favourite American steam loco. I wish we did photo runbys in the UK. That shot of 34 blasting out of the tunnell is entering goosebump territory!!

More than likely the piston rod packing aka ( seal ) is leaking some steam as the piston rod slides back and forth.

GOOD GOD what an amazing sound that is when it comes blasting out of the tunnel. chugging like it was pulling the longest freight train in the world. GOD I LOVE STEAM TRAINS. no diesel could ever make that beautiful noise.

wow that is awsome i think i heard that whistel on a readind and northern 4-8-4 dressed up to look like a d&h northern they did an excursion up near lake george god do i love it
